The CAP Arts de la broderie is a French national diploma of embroidery that you can acquire by passing tests independently. These exams are in French and require you to reside in France. This training course is a preparatory work for these tests. It is possible to follow the training course without taking the exams. In this case, you will acquire the basic knowledge of the embroiderer and you will receive a certificate from La Fabriquery. The training is intended for anyone wishing to train in Embroidery Art with an appetence for manual textile activities. There are no prerequisites other than being meticulous, careful and patient. However, it is highly recommended to have been initiated or simply to have tested the crochet embroidery of Lunéville before engaging in this training course.

Targeted jobs

  • “Petite main” in a workshop of Haute-Couture embroidery, production of wedding dresses, interior design and production of costumes for shows as an employee or freelance.
  • Designer of his own line of clothing or embroidered accessories.
  • Visual artist with a textile specialization.

Goal: the student will be able to perform any type of hand embroidery following previously defined specifications, under responsibility and control.

Where: In the premises of La Fabriquery at 21 Résidence de Flandres in Croix. The room is located on the first floor and unfortunately does not have wheelchair accessible toilets, but it is accessible to all.

Teaching methods: Demonstration, application exercises, workshop work. Study of past papers. Lectures for some of the more abstract parts and teaching materials available online for trainees.

Duration:

Option 1: 216 hours (108 hours of morning classes and 108 hours of personal practice in the workshop, divided into 3-hour sessions), 6 levels of full embroidery, one session of personalized embroidery (complementary stitches or 3D work), one session of textile technologies and a commented blank test.

Option 2: 279 hours (132 hours of morning classes and 147 hours of personal practice in the workshop, broken down into 3-hour sessions), 5 levels of complete embroidery, one session of personalized embroidery (complementary stitches or 3D work), one session of textile technologies, two accompanied CAP tests and one commented blank test.

Option 3: With prerequisites. 141 hours (63 hours of morning classes and 78 hours of personal practice in the workshop, divided into 3-hour sessions), 5 levels of full embroidery, one session of personalized embroidery (complementary stitches or 3D work), one session of textile technologies, two accompanied CAP tests and one commented blank test. The prerequisite is to know how to embroider with Lunéville crochet and how to apply pearls and sequins, and to be familiar with needle embroidery. A preliminary placement test will be carried out before entering the course.

Access time: The course can be customized and therefore start at any time of the year. The activities covered by the CAP in detail

The holder of the CAP Arts of embroidery is a skilled worker who realizes, according to given specifications, under responsibility and under control, embroidery by hand. For this purpose:

  • he/she reads, analyses and analyses the artistic and technical documents defining the embroidery to be made;
  • he/she carries out the pricking of the tracing paper or the drawing;
  • he/she carries out the pounce step then the fixing of the pounce;
  • he/she ensures the verification of raw materials, tools, materials, tools ;
  • he/she mounts the material and or the product to be embroidered on the holding material (interlining…), then on the frame;
  • he/she carries out the tests of the points;
